Auburn Expands Professional Education Opportunities in Birmingham
Auburn University is bringing more of its expertise directly to Greater Birmingham through new professional and executive education courses offered by the Harbert College of Business at Auburn in Birmingham.
The new open-enrollment programs are designed to connect Auburn faculty with Birmingham’s strong business community through focused, practical courses for working professionals. Participants can build new skills and explore emerging business challenges without committing to another degree or traveling to Auburn.
The courses are intentionally designed around real-world application. Professionals can step away from their day-to-day responsibilities, focus on a particular skill or business challenge, and return to work with new ideas, tools and perspectives they can immediately put into practice.
First Course Focuses on Practical AI
The first course, Practical AI for Business, will be offered October 15, 2026, at Auburn in Birmingham.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries and workplaces, the course is designed to help business leaders and professionals better understand how AI can be used thoughtfully and effectively.
Participants will explore how to identify areas where AI can create value, recognize situations where caution may be warranted and make more informed decisions about incorporating AI into their work.
The course reflects a growing reality for organizations of all sizes: AI literacy is quickly becoming an important part of overall business literacy.

Future Harbert College professional education offerings in Birmingham are expected to address topics including leadership, financial decision-making, organizational change, customer insights and business growth, and responsive supply chains.
The programs will generally be offered in one- and two-day formats, providing Birmingham-area professionals with opportunities to continue learning while giving local employers another resource for developing their teams.
